MBBS BSc FRCPath FRCPA FIAC Diploma in Dermatopathology
Dr Alexander Nirenberg, is a certified Dermatopathologist with many years of experience in this field.
Following a science degree at Monash University, he trained in medicine at the University of Melbourne and subsequently undertook pathology training followed by training in dermatopathology, including an elective at the Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology, New York, USA. He subsequently obtained his Diploma in Dermatopathology from the International Committee for Dermatopathology-Union of European Medical Specialists. He has worked in both the public and private sectors, and currently holds a position as Dermatopathologist at Dorevitch Pathology in Melbourne, Australia.
He is a Director of the Australasian College of Cutaneous Oncology (ACCO), an independent organization involved in teaching skin cancer medicine to general practitioners, and in evidence-based research. He regularly speaks at ACCO workshops and has been a speaker at its Scientific Meeting.
He is a Director and current Pathology Vice President of the Australasian Dermatopathology Society.
He is involved in postgraduate teaching and regularly speaks at workshops for skin cancer doctors. He has been a Tutor in pathology at the University of Melbourne.
He has been and is currently on organising committees for scientific meetings.
In the past he has been a Panel Member of the Avant Medical Experts Committee and a member of the Medical Advisory Committees of Masada and John Fawkner hospitals, and was an Assessor on the Breast Screen Victoria Performance Indicator and Standards Project.
He has successfully taken his current workplace through the process of accreditation as a training centre for the Diploma in Dermatopathology of the Royal College of Pathology of Australasia.
